Avalon Action Alliance provides life-changing programs for veterans and first responders and eliminates barriers to access, including geographical and financial obstacles.

Avalon was created by The Home Depot co-founder, the late Bernie Marcus, to fill much-needed gaps in the care of our nation’s veterans. Bernie felt, “It’s an urgent tragedy that so many of our nation’s defenders are battling invisible wounds without proper care. We’re driving hard to bring them transformational treatments and training befitting their service, strength, and lifelong potential. If we properly heal and transition our veterans and first responders, we heal our nation. Avalon’s mission will accomplish our vision.” Bernie was joined in this vision by his dear friends Arthur M. Blank and Gary Sinise, who are equally steadfast in their support of our country’s veterans and first responders.

Avalon’s unique value is rooted in the reality that the symptoms and signs of these invisible wounds are interrelated and difficult to diagnose. Avalon provides a single point of contact and one integrative assessment for the symptoms of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Post-traumatic Stress (PTS), and Substance Abuse (SA) to identify and guide veterans and first responders to the most effective pathways to healing.

Through this comprehensive approach, Avalon addresses the three interrelated challenges commonly faced by veterans and first responders: Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Post-traumatic Stress (PTS), and Substance Abuse (SA).

Avalon has seven TBI Centers nationwide, providing nearly 100 hours of personalized care in 3 weeks for brain health. With a unified care team, Avalon provides treatment with life-changing results and a long-term care plan that empowers our clients with the tools they need to move forward with their lives.

Avalon has eleven Posttraumatic Growth teams that provide the training needed to transform struggle into strength and thrive in the aftermath of trauma. This program starts with 7 days of on-site training and 3 months of dedicated support and connection in a peer-led environment.

Avalon’s two Substance Abuse Treatment Centers provide care for individuals seeking relief from substance abuse, offering a 42-day inpatient treatment program in an environment where healing happens with fellow warriors.

At Avalon, we firmly believe that we grow from trauma. None of us is alone in our journey – we are moving forward together.

“The treatment I received profoundly changed my perspective, equipping me with the tools to navigate my challenges while fostering hope for the future. The positive impact of their protocols extends beyond me, enhancing the quality of life for my loved ones as well.” - U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, Avalon TBI Center Client

“Since completing Warrior PATHH, I’ve transformed my life. I’ve taken control of my mental and physical health and become more present and responsible in my family life. My wife and I now share responsibilities, which has strengthened our relationship. I communicate honestly and calmly, something I couldn’t do before.” – U.S. Army, 7th Cavalry, Warrior PATHH Graduate

“Today, as I come to my final days here at Warriors Heart, I have a completely different outlook on my life. I feel immensely empowered leaving here. I feel like I have the ability to do anything that I put my mind to.” – Substance Abuse Treatment Client

It is important to note that many selfless veterans and first responders do not reach out for care because they feel someone needs the care more than they do. Our message is simple: you are worthy of this care, and you are not taking anyone’s spot – we invite all our nation’s warriors to take the steps necessary to live a fulfilling life.

We are just getting started, and we will not stop in our pursuit of providing access to our life-saving programs. America’s veterans and first responders deserve nothing less.
